A few steps from the sea, Liguria turns into something completely different and offers extraordinary landscapes, green valleys and gorges cut out in the rock: one of these valleys is Valle Stura, also known as the Milk Valley, for its cheese production.
Among the chestnut woods is the picturesque historic centre of Campoligure, with the Spinola castle, founded in the 15th century.
Today this small town is the only Italian Centre of Filigree. There are many specialized workshops where it is possible to watch the craftsmen at work, creating their silver embroideries. The Filigree Museum is a really worthwhile visit.
